Every student will be assigned a class based on both their age, as well as, their level of development. At Honey Grove our teachers are guided by academic goals (or minimum standards) designed especially for each of our classrooms. Our teachers facilitate age-appropriate activities that are designed to meet the classroom academic goals, and also target various student learning styles. Our Honey Grove teachers provide a schoolwide, weekly theme-based curriculum that is of high interest to our students. These themes or topics of study offer many opportunities for students to investigate and explore while participating in exciting, hands-on activities designed to enhance their cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth. Students will be expected to master each set of classroom academic goals before progressing to the next class. Our educational curriculum is highly motivating for children ensuring student success.

We monitor the growth of our students by using a manipulitive-based assessment program designed to evaluate children during their pre-school years. This is done at least three times during a two-year span. Our parents are informed of their child's progress during our annual parent/teacher conferences.

Honey Grove is also featuring one of the area's only Full-Day Kindergartens. The research is overwhelming on the benefits of attending a Full-Day Kindergarten Program. We believe that all children who progress through our Honey Grove Pre School will naturally maximize student success by attending our developmentally appropriate Full-Day Kindergarten Program. After graduating from Honey Grove Educational Daycare, our students will be able to meet and most likely exceed the expectations of first grade in any area Elementary School.

Listed below are just a few of the benefits of a Full-Day Kindergarten program.

  • Full-Day Kindergarten is mandated in at least 9 states. Currently, Indiana doesn't mandate Kindergarten
  • Reduces the number of transitions kindergartners experience in a typical day.
  • The Full-Day program allows children and teachers the time to explore topics in depth and exploration of experiences
  • Provides teaching an learning continuity
  • Provides more time for one-to-one interaction, child initiated activity.
  • Research results show greater academic performance.
  • Allows sufficient time to incorporate necessary developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Allows for more child-oriented approach.
  • Research indicates that attendance in Full-Day programs result in academic and social benefits for studies in the primary grades.
  • Full-Day kindergartners exhibited more independent learning, classroom involvement, productive work with peers, and reflection time.
  • Extended Education Program (Latchkey) at North Grove
